"If you give us consent, we can collect advertising IDs (such as Google's AAID and Apple's IDFA, both of which are randomly generated numbers that you can reset by going into your device' settings), your precise geolocation (latitude and longitude) through various means, depending on the service and device you're using, including GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections. The collection of your geolocation may occur in the background even when you aren't using the Services if the permission you gave us expressly permits such collection."

The app collects precise GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi-based geolocation data, including in the background when the app is not actively in use, which is an invasive form of continuous location tracking.

"We collect information from and about the device(s) you use to access our Services, including: hardware and software information such as IP address, device type, device-specific and apps settings and characteristics, app crashes, browser type, version and language, operating system, time zones, identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that may uniquely identify your device or browser."

The app collects extensive device information including unique device identifiers, device-specific settings and characteristics, and advertising IDs, which goes beyond what is needed for core video chat functionality.

"In some cases, advertising or analytics partners may collect device identifiers, cookies, and usage data directly through our Services using SDKs or similar technologies. From time to time, we may integrate additional analytics or measurement SDKs provided by third parties. These SDKs may collect identifiers, usage data, and crash information directly from your device. A full list of currently active SDKs is available upon request by contacting us."

Third-party SDKs collect data directly from users' devices, the full list of active SDKs is not disclosed upfront, and advertising/analytics partners gather device identifiers and usage data through these embedded technologies.

"Cross-App Use of Information: We may use and combine information about you across other applications, websites, or services owned or operated by our company and its affiliates to provide a seamless user experience, enable cross-service features, and suggest connections across our platforms, including displaying your profile in such services to increase your visibility and help you connect with more people. We may use data to include you in a 'custom audience' for Facebook that will receive Joi ad content (a custom audience is essentially a list of people who we think are most likely to be interested in a particular advertisement)."

Joi combines user data across its own affiliated apps and services to build unified profiles, and creates Facebook custom and lookalike audiences for cross-platform ad targeting.

"We implement a safety retention window of six months following account deletion unless there is a technical difficulty. During this period, some of your account information will be retained although the account will of course not be visible on the Services anymore. In practice, we delete or anonymize your information upon the deletion of your account (following the safety retention window) or after 5 years of continuous inactivity."

User data is retained for six months after account deletion and up to five years for inactive accounts, with additional exceptions for fraud prevention and legal compliance that could extend retention indefinitely.

"We're always looking for new and innovative ways to help you build meaningful connections, this policy may change over time. We will notify you before any material changes take effect so that you have time to review the changes."

While Joi promises notification before material changes, there is no mechanism for obtaining user consent — continued use after notification constitutes acceptance, and the initial policy states 'Your use of the Service signifies that you agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy.'

If you uninstall the app from your mobile device, the unique identifier associated with your device will continue to be stored. Even after deletion, data persists for six months, and a persistent device identifier survives uninstallation, allowing Joi to re-link a reinstalled app to the user's previous account and activity history.
