MyFitnessPal and its partners actively identify and link user activity across multiple devices and browsers, combining behavioral and location data to build unified profiles for advertising.

"Geolocation data. Such as IP address, country in which you reside, and zip code. MyFitnessPal does not collect specific geolocation information. This information may be shared with the following third parties for business purposes: Service providers, Analytics providers, Research partners, Marketing and advertising partners (including social media platforms and third-party advertising networks)."

While MyFitnessPal claims not to collect precise GPS location, it collects IP-based geolocation data and shares it with advertising and marketing partners.

"Certain connected devices, such as heart rate monitors, Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices, activity trackers, exercise equipment, scales, and/or wearables, that integrate with the Services, may allow us to collect Food and Activity Diary Data with your permission. With your permission, we may also collect relevant data from your device's health and fitness repository, such as Apple's HealthKit or Android's Google Health Connect."

MyFitnessPal collects extensive device and health sensor data from connected devices including heart rate monitors, glucose monitors, and wearables, plus data from HealthKit and Google Health Connect repositories.

"We will retain your personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy (including to satisfy our legal or reporting requirements), unless a longer retention period is required or allowed under law. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information; the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure."

MyFitnessPal provides no specific retention periods or deletion timelines, using vague "as long as necessary" language that effectively allows indefinite retention of personal data.
