"We may collect your precise location ("Location") from your device to determine your distance from other users ("Distance Information") and display your profile on the Grindr Properties. Sophisticated users who use the Grindr Services in an unauthorized manner, or other users who change their location while you remain in the same location, may use Distance Information to determine your exact location and may be able to determine your identity. You may choose to hide your Distance Information; however, the Grindr Services will continue to sort and display your profile based on your relative distance from other users."

Grindr collects precise GPS location continuously while in use, and even when users hide their distance information, the app still sorts profiles by proximity, meaning location can still be inferred by other users through triangulation.

"We also may share your Personal Information with AI partners to enhance security and to personalize your experience with the Grindr Services, which includes the use of automated decision-making, and with analytics partners that support our ability to analyze how our users interact with the Grindr Properties. Example partners include OpenAI (AI/ML product development, AI for personalization/connection), Google Vertex AI (AI/ML product development, AI for personalization/connection), Anthropic (AI/ML product development, AI for personalization/connection)."

Grindr shares personal information with a large number of third parties including AI companies (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic), analytics providers (Amplitude, Snowflake, Databricks), and numerous advertising partners, many of which collect data directly from users via SDKs.

"We collect certain hardware and software information about you and your device such as device make, device model, device IDs (i.e., Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) and Android ID), carrier, data connection type, browser type, operating system, IP address, domain name, date/time stamp for your visit, device/operating system orientation, app crashes, and device advertising identifiers (e.g., Google's GAID and Apple's IDFA). They will, however, receive the advertising ID associated with your device and know that the ID was identified on Grindr."

Grindr collects device advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID) and shares them with ad partners who know the ID came from Grindr, enabling cross-app tracking and profile building across services.

"We also retain a device identifier (i.e., IDFV and Android ID) and limited log information for up to a period of two years following account deletion to support internal reporting, metrics, and statistics. Personal Information may be retained for longer periods of time if required for legal or security purposes. Beyond this 2-year period, to support account and platform safety, Grindr will retain limited information such as records of your legal agreements, your account creation mechanism, and your block requests."

Grindr retains device identifiers and log data for up to two years after account deletion, and retains certain account records indefinitely beyond even that two-year period for 'platform safety' purposes.

"The latest version of the policy available at https://www.grindr.com/privacy-policy/ will govern our use of your Personal Information. Grindr may revise this policy from time to time. If Grindr determines, in its sole discretion, that the changes we make to this policy are material, we will notify you in advance (e.g., within the Services)."

Grindr reserves sole discretion to determine whether policy changes are 'material' enough to warrant advance notice, meaning they can make significant changes without notifying users.

"If you upload a photo, video, create an Album, or send an audio message while using the Grindr Services, you will be required to permit the Grindr Services to access your camera, photo gallery, and/or microphone, in which case Grindr will have access to the photos and videos stored in your photo gallery. We collect certain hardware and software information about you and your device such as device make, device model, device IDs, carrier, data connection type, browser type, operating system, IP address, and device advertising identifiers."

Grindr requires access to the full photo gallery (not just selected photos), camera, and microphone, and collects extensive device hardware/software information including carrier, device model, and advertising identifiers.

"If you decide to delete your Profile, your Profile will no longer be visible to other Grindr users and your Personal Information will generally be deleted within 28 days, unless the data must be retained: To evidence decisions made to protect the safety of our users; To support information security, fraud prevention, and anti-spam efforts; To comply with our Legal Obligations; To support the ways we process Personal Information under certain legal bases (i.e., for our own legitimate interests, like a device identifier for internal reporting and metrics for a period of up to two years)."

Account deletion takes up to 28 days and comes with broad exceptions allowing Grindr to retain data for safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and 'legitimate interests' including device identifiers for up to two years post-deletion.
