Glassdoor shares user data extensively with advertising partners, ad exchanges, analytics providers, affiliates (Indeed), and various service providers, and also collects data from partner websites via integrated advertising technology.

"Personal data shared by ad partners and affiliates or collected by us from the websites and apps of ad partners and affiliates may be combined with the other data you share with us and that we receive, generate, or infer about you. We may also use data we collect via our services and third-party ad partners (including affiliates) to measure the effectiveness of ads and to help recognize your device(s) to serve you ads on and off of our services."

Glassdoor combines data collected across its own services, affiliate services (Indeed), and third-party ad partner websites to build unified user profiles and recognize devices for cross-platform ad targeting.

"We may revise this Policy from time to time by posting an updated version. If we make a change that we believe materially reduces your rights or increases your responsibilities, we will notify you by email and/or by means of a notice on or linked via our services prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of our services is subject to the most current effective version of this Policy. If you object to the Policy after it becomes effective for you, you may no longer use our services."

Glassdoor can change the privacy policy at will, and continued use constitutes acceptance. Users who object must stop using the service entirely, with no negotiation or grandfathering of prior terms.

"We keep your personal data only so long as we need it to provide or offer our services to you and fulfill the purposes described in this Policy. Retention periods can vary significantly based on the type of data and how it is used. Our retention periods are based on criteria that include legally mandated retention periods, pending or potential litigation, our intellectual property or ownership rights, contract requirements, operational directives or needs, the expected lifetime of our users' use of our services, and historical archiving."

Glassdoor provides no specific deletion timelines and lists extremely broad retention justifications including 'intellectual property or ownership rights,' 'operational directives or needs,' and 'historical archiving,' which could justify indefinite retention.

"If you enable location data for the mobile version of our services (including any version installed as an application), we may use your location data to serve you geo-targeted ads for employers and other advertisers that are local to you. We may also derive your general location based on your IP address. Security & Login Information includes your login events, password changes, email changes, and device information (including IP address and associated inferred coarse location)."

Glassdoor tracks user location via device GPS (when enabled) and IP-based geolocation, using this data for geo-targeted advertising and recording it as part of login/security information.

"Service Activity includes pages you viewed, Content or ads you interacted with, searches, chat logs, groups you visited, log info, screen recordings, text entered, etc. submitted to the services. We may allow you to sync or upload a list of contacts in order to facilitate these communications. Communications Activity includes address book information."

Glassdoor collects screen recordings of user interactions, all text entered on the service, and can access contact/address book information — data collection that goes beyond core job-search functionality.

"By connecting your accounts, you expressly agree that once you connect your accounts, you may not disconnect them and that Glassdoor and Indeed each receive a complete copy of your Profile data and process it according to our respective Privacy Policies. Starting on April 20th, 2026, you may be required to log in with a connected account to get full access to Glassdoor."

Users are forced to permanently link their Glassdoor and Indeed accounts with no ability to disconnect, and both companies retain a full copy of all profile data even if one account is deleted.
