ChargePoint collects precise geolocation from the app and extensive GPS tracking data through telematics, including full trip details, routes, departure/arrival times, and driving behavior — going well beyond basic charger-finding functionality.

ChargePoint collects highly granular sensor and behavioral data from connected vehicles including gyroscope orientation, pedal position, HVAC parameters, acceleration patterns, and speed — far beyond what's needed for EV charging services.

ChargePoint discloses user data to a broad and loosely defined set of third parties including marketing service providers, consultancies, cookie providers, and vaguely described 'cooperation partners' and 'other vendors.'

"As part of this advertising, we may share identifiers (such as IP addresses and email addresses), internet or other electronic network activity information (such as information regarding an individual's browsing interactions on a ChargePoint website), and commercial information (such as the fact that a browser visited a page directed to people who are considering an electric vehicle) with advertising platforms and advertising networks."

ChargePoint shares user identifiers and browsing behavior with advertising platforms and networks for cross-site targeted advertising, enabling tracking of users across websites based on their ChargePoint activity.

"We generally retain information for as long as it may be relevant to the purposes above and in compliance with applicable law. To dispose of any personal data, we may anonymize it, delete it or take other appropriate steps. Information may persist in copies made for backup and business continuity purposes for an additional period of time."

While ChargePoint provides a retention schedule for European residents, the general policy uses vague language ('as long as it may be relevant') and acknowledges data persists in backups for an unspecified 'additional period of time' with no clear deletion commitment.
